My policy is to NEVER collect a living sea creature for my crafts!  As I walk the beaches of Florida and Massachusetts, I'm looking for empty seashells.  These Sea Urchins had washed up during a storm (hundreds of them!) and apparently were unable to get back into the ocean and died. 

Sea Urchins appeared on this earth about 500 million years ago!! They are extremely fragile, beautiful creatures. To strengthen the outer shell, it has been filled with Plaster of Paris. The protective spines have been removed. The shells are coated with an acrylic and sprinkled with glitter to bring out their purple/gold design.
